Morris on a tracker

Is Arccos worth it?

Morris competes with nobody's sensors, so this can be plain: here is what Arccos costs and claims on its own site on the day we read it, who gets value from a tracker and who does not, and what to do with the numbers whichever way you get them.

Short answer: Arccos costs $249.99 for the sensors with the first year of membership, then $199.99 a year (its site, 9 October 2026), for automatic shot tracking, an AI rangefinder, smart club distances, strokes gained and club recommendations. Worth it if you will act on strokes gained after every round; not if the app will sit closed. A Garmin watch with the free Garmin Golf app is the usual alternative, and Badgie Golf turns Garmin shots into strokes gained for Morris.

Who gets value from a tracker

  1. 1

    The golfer who reviews

You open the app after the round, look at strokes gained by category, and change what you practise. For you the sensors pay back in a season.

  2. 2

    The golfer who guesses distances

Smart club distances replace 'I hit my 7-iron 160' with what you actually average. That alone saves strokes on approaches.

  3. 3

The golfer who wants a watch anyway

A Garmin golf watch tracks shots without sensors and its app is free; Badgie Golf reads those shots into strokes gained for Morris. Compare the total cost over three seasons.

  4. 4

The golfer who will not look

No tracker is worth it. Spend the money on a lesson and the free swing analyzer, which tells you why the number is what it is.

What to do with the numbers

Whatever tracks your shots, the reading is the same: over five rounds, which strokes gained category is most negative? Practise that. The strokes gained page explains the arithmetic and how Morris computes yours from a Garmin watch; the app comparison has the rest of the market from their own listings.

Arccos questions

How much does Arccos cost?

On its own site on 9 October 2026: the Smart Sensors kit is $249.99 with the first year of membership included, then $199.99 a year (the page also states the renewal as $16.67 a month billed annually). Arccos Air is the sensorless option. Prices change and vary by region; the page is linked below.

What does Arccos do?

In the company's words: automatic shot tracking with a sensor on every club (or sensorless with Arccos Air), an AI rangefinder adjusted for wind, slope and conditions, smart club distances, strokes gained insights against a target handicap, club recommendations and green maps. It calls itself the official game tracker of the PGA TOUR.

Is Arccos worth it for a high handicapper?

If you will look at the numbers after the round and change something, the strokes gained view is exactly what a high handicapper needs: it usually shows the strokes are in the approach shots and the penalties, not the putting. If you will not open the app after the round, no tracker is worth any price.

Is there a cheaper way to get strokes gained?

A Garmin golf watch tracks shots automatically with the free Garmin Golf app; Badgie Golf reads those shots into strokes gained for Morris, who tells you on WhatsApp which category costs most. The paid GPS apps' upper tiers also compute strokes gained from logged shots. Each needs honest, complete rounds.

What is the one thing to do with Arccos data?

Find the category with the most negative strokes gained over five rounds and practise that, not your favourite club. A tracker that changes what you practise pays for itself; one that confirms what you already thought does not.
