Clubs & Gear
How to choose clubs, balls and shafts for your game, new or used.
Clubs, balls and shafts chosen for your game, not from a catalogue. Nothing on these pages ranks a product or says a brand is best: each page explains what a feature does for a strike like yours (offset, cavity back, bounce, compression, flex), gives you a finder from your own driver speed or 7-iron carry, and tells you how to test before you buy. The rules that limit equipment (14 clubs, 48 inches, 460 cc, grooves) are quoted from the R&A with the date read.
Buying used is the best value in golf and the easiest way to get the wrong flex at a great price, so two pages are about that: the inspection checklist and the four kinds of seller. Morris's own role is stated plainly: on WhatsApp he reads shops and second-hand listings for a model you name and gives you the price, where and when he read it. He sells nothing and takes no commission. If a price or a claim about another product on these pages has gone stale, tell him on WhatsApp and the date on the page changes with the fix.

Quick answers
- How many clubs do I actually need?
- A beginner about ten, a club golfer twelve or thirteen, a low handicap fourteen. The limit is fourteen; a club you hit badly is one too many.
- Which ball should I play?
- By driver speed and contact: soft under about 85 mph or with off-centre strikes, mid for most club golfers, a firm tour ball from about 105 mph. Then the same ball every round.
- Does Morris sell clubs or earn from links?
- No. He reads prices and tells you where they are, with the date. The pages have no affiliate links.
