Morris on buying used

Where to buy used golf clubs

There is no single best place; there are four kinds of seller and each gives you something different: a guarantee, a price, a club in your hands, or a face you know. Here is what each one is for, and how to compare them before you pay.

Short answer: certified pre-owned shops for graded condition, warranty and returns; marketplaces (eBay, Wallapop in Spain) for the lowest price with no guarantee; a local shop’s trade-in rack to hold and hit the club; your own club’s members for honesty you can check on Saturday. Compare the same model across two of them: the gap is the price of the risk.

How to compare before paying

  1. 1

Pin the model and the specs

Model, year, flex, length, lie, set composition. Two listings of the same name can be different clubs.

  2. 2

    Price it in two places

The same model at a certified shop and at a marketplace. The difference is what the guarantee costs; decide whether you want it.

  3. 3

    Check last season's new price

Once the new model is out, the previous one new sometimes sits close to the used price, with a full warranty.

  4. 4

Read the return terms, then buy through the platform

Never pay outside it. Keep the listing and the photos until the club is in your hands and inspected.

What Morris does with a model name

On WhatsApp, Morris searches shops and second-hand listings for the model you name, reads the pages and gives you the price he found, where and the date he read it; if you ask him to compare two models he does it from facts on the pages, with the source. He does not sell, takes no commission, and a listing may be gone when you click. The inspection is still yours: the second-hand checklist. And before you shop, know your flex and your bag: shaft flex, what clubs you need.

Where-to-buy questions

Where is the best place to buy used golf clubs?

It depends on the risk you want to carry. Certified pre-owned shops (makers' own, like Callaway Pre-Owned, or specialists) grade condition and give a warranty and a return window, for a higher price. Marketplaces (eBay, in Spain Wallapop) are cheapest with no guarantee. A local shop's trade-in rack lets you hold and sometimes hit the club. Your own club's members sell to people they will see on Saturday.

Is it safe to buy golf clubs on eBay?

From sellers with a long history and real photos of the actual club, usually. The risks are counterfeits of premium drivers and irons (buy from sellers who verify authenticity), specs that are not described, and no inspection. Pay through the platform, never outside it, and check the return terms before bidding.

Do pre-owned clubs from the maker come with a warranty?

Makers' certified pre-owned programmes typically grade the condition, back the club with a warranty and give a return window; the exact terms are on their site and change, so read them before buying. That is what the price difference against a marketplace pays for.

Can I try used clubs before buying?

At a shop with a trade-in rack or a demo day, yes, and that is worth a few euros more. Online, no: read the specs, ask for photos of the face and the shaft at the hosel, and check the return window.

How does Morris help me buy used?

On WhatsApp, name the model and Morris searches shops and listings, reads them and tells you the price he found, where, and the date. He compares the models you ask about with facts from the pages he read, with their source. He does not sell and takes no commission.
