Card 20 of 41
In putting, don't shrink the hole
Let it die just past the hole.
Why
Stop trying to 'jam' putts in with pace. The hole is 4.25 inches wide, but the more speed the ball carries, the smaller its usable mouth becomes: that's the 'capture size'. A putt with enough speed to finish 4 feet past shrinks the hole's effective width from 4.25 inches to under 1 — which is why hard putts lip out where a soft one drops.
