Card 5 of 41
What a good shot is for your level
Judge a shot by the trouble it avoids.
Why
A good shot isn't only the one that stops next to the pin. It depends on your level and on what you avoid. Off the tee, missing into light rough barely costs 0.25-0.3 strokes; a fairway bunker, on the other hand, costs up to 1.4 and the trees up to 1.1. So sending the ball into the rough with a clear line to the green is a good shot, even if it's not the fairway.
