How it is played

How it's scoredRule 21.3
On a par 4Holes
5+You lose the holeMore strokes, or no score−1
4You halve the holeThe same as par0
3You win the holeFewer strokes than par+1
  • With a handicap stroke on that hole, 5 strokes count as 4: you halve the hole.
  • At the end, holes lost are taken from holes won: 6 won and 4 lost makes +2.
  • In a bogey competition you compare with the hole's bogey.

It is scored like match play, but against a fixed score for each hole, par or bogey (Rule 21.3). Fewer strokes than the fixed score wins the hole; the same halves it; more, or no score, loses it. The total is holes won minus holes lost.
