TheGrint alternatives

TheGrint is the handicap and stats app: a detailed scorecard, 18+ stats modules, GPS, games and, in the US, your USGA Handicap Index. People look elsewhere when they live outside the US (its handicap there is its own GHAP), want strokes gained or automatic tracking, or want someone to tell them what to practise. Morris is one of the alternatives, so every line about the others comes from their own listing or site.

Short answer: for the same job (scorecard and stats), Hole19 or 18Birdies, with strokes gained on their paid plans. For games and leaderboards with your group, Golf GameBook. For automatic shot tracking from the watch, Golfshot. For a coach who reads your rounds and your swing videos and gives you one thing to work on, Morris on WhatsApp, free to start.

What TheGrint does well

Scorekeeping and numbers. Fairways, greens, putts and penalties shot by shot, trends and comparisons with golfers at your level, games (6 free and 11 with Pro, by its website), friends and leaderboards, an Apple Watch app, and the USGA link if you play in the US. For a US golfer who wants a handicap and a stats sheet in one place, it is built for exactly that.

Why golfers look for another

Outside the US its handicap is an estimate on its own network, and the app is English-only. Its listing does not mention strokes gained or AI. And a stats sheet only helps if someone turns it into practice: read what strokes gained tells you before you pay for more numbers.

Pick by the job

Questions about TheGrint and its alternatives

Is TheGrint an official handicap?

In the US it links your USGA Handicap Index and syncs eligible scores, according to its App Store listing. Outside the US it connects to GHAP, its own handicap network, which is not a federation handicap. If your federation keeps your handicap (England Golf, the RFEG, the DGV…), that is the official one.

How much is TheGrint Pro?

The US App Store listing shows Pro at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with a 7-day trial on its website; several other prices also appear in the list of purchases (1 November 2026).

What is a free alternative to TheGrint?

Hole19, 18Birdies, Golfshot and Golf GameBook all have free plans with GPS and a scorecard. Morris is free to start and has no message limit today; he reads your rounds and your swing videos on WhatsApp instead of asking you to enter stats.

Which TheGrint alternative works in other languages?

TheGrint lists English only. Hole19 lists 14 languages, Golf GameBook and Golfshot 11 each. Morris answers in the language you write in, among 12.
