Golf GameBook alternatives

Golf GameBook is the social scorecard: formats, live leaderboards, challenges and badges for the group you play with. People look elsewhere for an official handicap (its own does not run where federations keep handicaps), for the price of Gold, or because they want help playing better, not just a place to write the score. Each row below comes from the app's own listing or site.

Short answer: for scorecard and stats with a US handicap, TheGrint. For GPS first, Hole19 or 18Birdies, free for the basics. For a coach who reads your rounds and your swing and tells you the one thing to practise, Morris on WhatsApp, free to start.

What Golf GameBook does well

Games and the group. Twenty formats, tournaments of up to 72 players (Ryder Cup style too), live leaderboards, challenges and badges, a scorecard that applies each player's playing handicap, an Apple Watch app and 11 languages. For a weekly group that likes a bet and a leaderboard, it covers almost everything you play. If you want the formats themselves explained, see golf betting games and Stableford scoring.

Why golfers look for another

The handicap is the first reason: where a federation keeps your handicap, the app's own does not apply. The second is that its listing mentions neither strokes gained nor swing analysis nor AI. The third is the subscription, between $19.99 and $59.99 depending on the period.

Questions about Golf GameBook and its alternatives

How much is Golf GameBook Gold?

The app is free, with a Gold Membership for one month or one year. The US App Store listing shows $19.99, $34.99 and $59.99 without saying which price goes with which period (1 November 2026).

Does Golf GameBook give you an official handicap?

No. Its own «GGB Handicap» is, by its listing, not offered where a national federation runs handicaps. Your official handicap is your federation's; in the US, TheGrint links the USGA Handicap Index, and for players federated in Spain, Morris brings the RFEG handicap from the licence number.

What is the best free alternative to Golf GameBook?

For GPS and a scorecard, the free plans of Hole19 and 18Birdies. For games with friends who do not want to install anything, Badgie Golf (Morris's app): Stableford, Match play, Fourball or Skins for up to four, and guests score from a link. Morris himself is free to start, with no message limit today.

Which alternative analyses my swing?

18Birdies Premium has an AI swing analyzer. Morris reviews the video you send him on WhatsApp and gives you one priority, one feel and one drill with reps; the web analyzer is free and needs no account. Golf GameBook's listing does not mention swing analysis.
