Slice swing analysis: what to check first
A ball curving right tells you about the flight. It does not identify which movement to change. Separate the flight, the strike and the motion before choosing a drill.

Face and path are different questions
TrackMan defines face-to-path as face angle minus club path. Open to the path is not the same as open to the target: a ball can start left and still curve right. Off-centre driver contact can also affect curvature, so include the impact mark in the check.
For a left-handed golfer, the usual slice curves left. Describe the actual start and curve rather than using a right-handed shortcut. A down-the-line video can help inspect delivery, but it is not a measurement of face-to-path at impact.
What Morris would check on video
The Athletic Motion Golf reference examines how the arms start down. Here the question is whether the hands move outward immediately during transition, and whether that observation fits your strike and flight. It is one hypothesis, not a claim that all slicers start down the same way.
If a slower rehearsal changes the start direction but not the curve, do not celebrate the movement alone. Recheck the face and contact. The practical outcome is a more useful ball flight, with one change you can repeat.
Pause and rehearse the delivery
Morris practice proposal. The linked lesson supports the arm-movement topic, not this exact sequence.
- 1
Record the miss
Choose a clear target and note where the ball starts and which way it bends. Mark the strike location before changing the movement.
- 2
Rehearse slowly
Without a ball, pause near the top and rehearse the first part of the downswing. Let the arms and body move together without throwing the hands sharply towards the ball.
- 3
Test a short swing
Try the feel with a short controlled swing. Compare start direction, curve and strike with the original shot; change only this rehearsal.
Self-check: Less curve with usable contact is evidence to continue. A prettier transition with the same miss is a reason to recheck the hypothesis.

Apply it to your own game
A swing video and a description of your miss help turn a general idea into a specific check.

Common questions
Does a slice prove I come over the top?
No. Clubface relative to path and strike location explain the flight more directly. An over-the-top move is one possible delivery pattern to investigate on video.
Should I just aim further left?
Aiming changes the target relationship; it does not diagnose the curve. On the practice ground, use a clear target line so you can compare the same start direction and curvature.
Can the free analyzer measure my clubface angle?
Do not treat a video observation as a launch-monitor measurement. Morris can examine visible movement and your description, and should say when the evidence cannot establish the cause.
