Real Golf de Pedreña · El Campo Original

This is where Seve Ballesteros began: he was born in Pedreña, made his debut as a caddie at the age of 9, and his father worked as a gardener on the course. The original course was designed by Harry S. Colt, and in 1946 Tom Simpson wrote that it was the best-planned golf Colt had created on the Continent. Pedreña has hosted 4 Spanish Professional Championships, 3 Spanish Opens and 60 Spanish Amateur Championships.

The site is a peninsula between the Cantabrian Sea and the Cubas estuary, with fairways lined by centuries-old trees. The club's director singles out the 8th, which plays over the estuary and changes its scenery with the tide, and the 14th, with the Bay of Santander in view from the green. According to the director, the course defends itself with fast greens and subtle slopes; the 18th finishes with views of the clubhouse. The club has around 1,500 members.
